A Garden-Inspired Wedding at Hildene

There was something especially beautiful about designing stationery for a wedding at Hildene, the historic Lincoln family home in Manchester, Vermont. With its sweeping gardens, mountain views, and unmistakable sense of place, the venue already had so much personality. Our goal was to create paper goods that felt like they belonged there.

The design began with flowers. Soft, hand-drawn botanical illustrations brought the gardens into the stationery, creating a look that felt romantic and collected rather than overly formal. We paired the florals with beautiful typography and handmade paper, allowing the illustrations to take center stage while still keeping everything elegant and timeless.

Each piece was designed to feel connected to the next, including the custom die-cut rehearsal dinner card, and the welcome card with detailed information - and blind letterpress artwork on the back, intended to be a gift to the guest. The result was stationery that felt personal to the couple and unmistakably tied to Hildene; romantic, refined, and just a little bit whimsical.

For us, the best stationery doesn't simply announce where a wedding is taking place. It gives you a little feeling of being there. For this Vermont celebration, we wanted guests to open the invitation and immediately imagine the gardens, the mountains, and a beautiful summer day at Hildene.
